Our Strong Fathers class helps fathers or expectant fathers prepare themselves to take on the responsibilities of fatherhood. This three-week class (9 a.m to 3 p.m., M–F) is designed to show men not only how to be outstanding role models for their children, but also how to provide for their families and learn critical job-readiness skills. Our Strong Fathers workshop is provided at no cost, and lunch is served at every class. Participants can earn a weekly stipend and receive help with transportation. Class topics include:
- Healthy Relationships
- Healthcare Enrollment
- Legal issues
- Financial management
- Health and wellness
- Job readiness and employability
- Child support education
- Career exploration
As you complete the class, we will help you achieve your goals by working with you on:
- Your High School Equivalency so you can earn your diploma and march in a cap and gown at a special recognition ceremony.
- Learning more about job preparation, placement, and trainings for great jobs and career growth.
- Talking about issues that are impacting your life and/or your family with onsite counselors.
There’s more: We can help with court advocacy, referrals, barrier removal assistance, and even interview-ready clothes and work uniforms.
We also have an exciting program called Forward Promise for boys and young men of color, between the ages of 16-24, who are interested in learning how to tell their story through the creative arts. This could be poetry, rap, photography, videography or other media.
